As a step down from our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), Iris Wellness Group offers an intensive outpatient program (IOP) that provides more flexibility for individuals who are ready for lower levels of care as they transition back into their home environment. Our program is tailored to each individual’s needs and strengths, creating a comprehensive therapy plan that helps them reach their desired outcomes.

About Our Intensive Outpatient Program

Depending on an individual’s needs, an IOP usually includes treatment services done 3 to 5 times a week and can last as long as required by the individual. The commitment to attend clinical services decreases as the individual progresses, but the intensive outpatient program will still include a combination of individual and group psychotherapy, medication management, functional assessments, or mindfulness-based stress reduction activities.

How Does It Work?

Our intensive outpatient program begins with an in-depth assessment of the individual’s mental health history, current symptoms, and needs. We then develop an individualized treatment plan that is designed to help them achieve their recovery goals. Our admission requirements hold that individuals must:

  • Be capable of performing tasks of daily living
  • Be 13 to 17 years old for adolescent evening programs
  • Be 18 years old or older for day treatment programs
  • Have the willingness to participate in the treatment process

The intensive outpatient program typically includes individual and group therapy sessions that focus on building life skills, developing coping strategies, and improving communication skills. Additionally, we provide intensive case management services, such as connecting individuals with community resources and helping coordinate care among providers if needed. Our team of mental health professionals works closely with individuals to ensure that they understand their treatment plan, make progress toward their goals, and develop the skills necessary for long-term success.

At Iris Wellness Group, we strive to provide a safe and supportive environment where individuals can work through any challenges they may face during their intensive outpatient program. Our team is committed to helping those in our care achieve lasting results and improved quality of life.

Benefits of IOP

Our intensive outpatient program typically allows individuals to receive treatment while maintaining a work or school schedule, as well as providing them with the opportunity to develop relationships and support systems within their local community. It can provide numerous other benefits as well for those in recovery, such as:

  • Improved physical and mental health
  • Increased self-confidence
  • Enhanced ability to manage symptoms
  • Developed skills for better communication and relationships
  • Increased autonomy and independence
  • Overall improved quality of life
  • An increased feeling of connection to the community

Additionally, the intensive outpatient program offers more intensive services than traditional outpatient therapy or medication management, helping individuals learn to manage their symptoms and create lasting change.

Intensive Outpatient Program Components

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy is a treatment process that allows individuals to work one-on-one with a mental health professional in order to identify, understand and address their concerns. This type of therapy can help individuals develop new skills and coping strategies that can be applied in other areas of life.

Group Therapy

Group therapy involves working with a small group of people who have similar experiences or struggles so they can support one another while learning and growing together. During sessions, the group meets with a facilitator to discuss topics related to recovery, build relationships, and share experiences. It is an integral part of intensive outpatient programs because it provides a safe space for individuals to connect with each other and learn from one another’s experiences. These groups also provide social support that can be essential in the recovery process.

Medical Services

Medical services often include medication management, psychiatric evaluations and assessments, physical health monitoring, and other medical interventions as needed. This component of the program helps ensure that individuals receive the best possible care for their specific needs.

Case Management Services

Case management services are an important part of intensive outpatient programs because they provide individuals with the resources and support needed for successful recovery. Case managers can assist with connecting individuals to community resources, coordinating care among providers, and providing education and advocacy.

Holistic Treatments

Holistic treatments are an important part of intensive outpatient programs, as they can help individuals achieve a better sense of overall well-being. Examples include yoga and mindfulness, art therapy, and other therapeutic activities that can help promote physical, emotional, and spiritual healing.

Clinically Developed Curriculum

Our intensive outpatient program includes a curriculum specifically designed to meet the needs of the individual. This curriculum is based on evidence-based practices and is structured to provide individuals with the information and skills necessary for long-term recovery. We understand that everyone’s journey toward wellness is unique, which is why we work with individuals to create a comprehensive, clinically developed therapy plan that meets their specific needs and strengths.

Relapse Prevention Planning

Relapse prevention planning is an important part of intensive outpatient programs because it helps individuals identify and address the triggers that could lead to relapse. Relapse prevention involves creating a strategy for avoiding or managing these triggers so individuals can stay on track with their recovery goals.

Aftercare Planning

Our intensive outpatient program includes aftercare planning to ensure that individuals have the resources and support they need once treatment is complete. This plan includes referrals to community resources, continued therapy sessions, and ongoing medical care to ensure long-lasting recovery.
